American Pride in Caen

Today we rode a bus with our new French friends to see the Normandy beaches.  Our first stop was the remains of a German made bunker. Look at those blue skies. They will not last all day.

We got to walk inside the bunkers and soak up a view of the sea.

From there we traveled to the American Memorial and cemetery.  On the way our tour guide pointed out landmarks from the war and explained the events leading up to D-day.  Row upon row of American graves serve as a reminder of our countries effort in World War II.

We took a walk for a closer look at the historic beaches.  As it began to rain and we loaded up the bus and went to the Caen Memorial.  The museum was filled with interesting artifacts, videos and photographs from WWII. In the photo below some of the boys are looking at a machine gun on wheels.
